DESN12048 Communication, Type & Symbol

Typographic and symbolic systems are the primary forms of conveying information in spatially-based communications. Students are introduced to the basic principles and practices of typography and symbol design. Students explore human-centred and inclusive design factors such as legibility and accessibility as they apply to type and symbols. A variety of media and scales are addressed. Case studies, readings on current research findings and methods, practical activities and projects will illuminate the topic.
